Test strips are not interchangeable. Every glucometer reads only the strips made for that specific model. Accu-Chek Instant strips do not work in an Accu-Chek Guide, Guide strips do not work in an Instant, and neither works in a BeHealthy meter.

Lancets are the exception. Lancets only have to fit your lancing device, not your meter — they never touch the strip or the reading. Accu-Chek Softclix lancets fit the Softclix device supplied with both Accu-Chek systems.
Why Strips Are Not Interchangeable
A test strip is not a passive piece of plastic. Each one carries a dried enzyme layer and a set of electrodes, and the meter converts the tiny current produced by that reaction into a glucose figure using a calibration curve built specifically for that strip design.
Change the strip and the curve is wrong. That is why manufacturers lock the pairing: the meter is calibrated for its own strip chemistry and for nothing else. It is a safety design, not a commercial one — although it does mean the strips, not the meter, are the real long-term cost.
What Happens If You Use the Wrong Strip
Most meters reject a strip they do not recognise and display an error rather than a number. Annoying, but safe — the meter is protecting you.
The strip does not seat correctly in the port, the meter does not power on, and you have wasted a strip and a lancet prick.
A reading that looks normal but is not is far more dangerous than an error code, because you may act on it — or fail to act when you should.
If it does not slide in easily, it is the wrong strip. Forcing it can damage the strip port and end the life of the meter.
Never adjust medication based on a reading you doubt. If a number does not match how you feel, or you suspect a strip problem, retest with a fresh strip from a sealed vial and speak to your doctor. Do not change an insulin or medication dose on the strength of a single questionable result.
The Cost That Actually Matters
The meter is bought once. Strips are bought every month for the rest of your life, so the per-strip figure is the number worth comparing before you commit to a system.

Pack size matters as much as brand. Accu-Chek Instant strips cost ₱35.20 each in 25s but ₱19.50 each in 100s — buying the larger pack nearly halves your running cost for exactly the same strip. The buy-two-get-one bundles land between the two.
Switching Meters
You can change systems at any time, but your existing strips will not carry over — they only work with the meter they were made for. If you have a large unopened stock, finish it before switching, or the saving disappears into strips you cannot use.
If your doctor or hospital has standardised on Accu-Chek, stay with Accu-Chek and buy the largest pack size you will use before expiry. Storage, Expiry, and Checking Accuracy
Philippine humidity degrades the enzyme layer fast. Close the vial the second you take a strip out — not after the test.
Write the date you opened the vial on the label. Strips have both a printed expiry and a shorter once-opened life.
Moving strips into a pill box or another vial removes them from the desiccant that keeps them dry. They will read low or fail.
Control solution has a known glucose concentration. Run it when you open a new vial, drop the meter, or doubt a reading — it tells you whether the problem is the meter, the strips, or the result.
